TLDR: CBS will use various technological innovations during its presentation of the Super Bowl, including the debut of the “doink cam.” The doink cam is a camera that will be placed inside the uprights of the goalpost to capture unique perspectives during field goals. CBS will also have six 4K cameras in each goalpost and 23 augmented reality cameras. Nickelodeon will use the augmented reality cameras to create a broadcast where SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star appear to be calling the game. CBS plans to use technology in a way that enhances the storytelling and adds flavor to the broadcast.
